Costs of Permanent Hair Removal
Men and women have body hair all over, some have more hair in smaller space than others and unfortunately, some have too much hair on certain areas of their skin that they rather not have. This is why permanent hair removal is always a sought-after service in the clinics.
First let us understand our body hair. They grow from inside of our skin, in structures called follicle. The hair grows from inside the skin to the outside, with the upper part visible to us. Shaving only removes the upper part and it will not stop the follicle from growing new hair every time. That is why constant shaving is needed.
So in order to kill the follicles, we need to have treatment to target them directly. Two popular treatment that works well are electrolysis and laser treatment. Different factors will decide which treatment works better for an individual.
Let’s see the difference – Electrolysis vs Laser Hair Removal:
During eletrolysis, a small needle which is hooked up to a machine will be inserted into your skin. When it is in contact with the follicle, a small jolt of electricity is then released to burn and kill the follicle.
This method works well but since it is targeting the follicle individually, it is a slow and steady process. So usually this treatment is done on the face or other areas with the hair scattered all around.
Meanwhile for laser treatment, it can target multiple follicles at once. The laser identifies the follicles under the skin based on its darker pigmentation compared to the lighter-colored skin. This treatment is suitable for areas with a high density of hair growth like the arms and the back.
With that in mind, it is obvious that the laser treatment works well if you have dark hair and light skin color. Those with blonde or gray hair would find the electrolysis treatment works better.
The hairs on our body follow their own different cycle. Some parts of the hair might be actively growing while the others are in a paused mode. The laser meanwhile can only target the root of the hair that is actively growing so the others will survive the process. This is why a few sessions of laser treatment are needed so that the different sessions will target a different group of hairs in their growing cycle.
These treatments are affordable and the cost are influenced by several factors, obviously by size of the skin are to be treated and the type of treatment chosen. For example electrolysis treatment on the face is cheaper if compared to the back treatment.
The laser hair removal treatment are charged per session. A report released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons revealed that the average price of laser treatment is $429.
For electrolysis, different areas would have different cost. The face area cost an average of $40 while the back area can cost up to $300 per session, with the sessions numbering somewhere from 3 to 20.
After you have removed the unwanted hair, now you can show them off. If they are your back then have a nice looking tribal design tattoo using temporary airbrush tattoo ink.
